For the third consecutive year, Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has been ranked the world’s top university under 50 years old, in the QS Top 50 Under 50 2016-2017. 1. NTU has cat cafés and a cat management network.

To feed, neuter and protect NTU’s campus cats, the university has set up a ‘cat management network’ to rescue injured cats and also created six cat cafés (or feeding grounds).

2. Its campus is eco-friendly.

Nanyang Technological University has taken on the mission of becoming the greenest campus in the world by 2022, and set out a three-phase process to achieve its goal. Find out more here.

3. You can get married on campus.

If you meet your significant other at Nanyang Technological University, you might like to know that the director of alumni affairs, Mr Soon Min Yam, has officiated over 90 weddings to date…

4. NTU’s Prof. Stephan Schuster was in Time’s Top 100 Most Influential People in 2009.

Thanks to his ground-breaking work on the Mammoth Genome Project, which helped discover 85% of the mammoth DNA sequence back in 2008.

5. There’s a traditional Chinese medicine clinic on campus.

The university also offers a dual degree in biomedical sciences and Chinese medicine, in partnership with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

6. NTU has welcomed lots of famous guests.

Including the celebrated primatologist Dr Jane Goodall, who was invited by the environmental protection club, Earthlink, to talk about her work, conservation and ways to make a difference.

7. NTU is foodie-friendly.

With 25 restaurants, cafés and food courts serving everything from Moroccan to Korean cuisine, there should be something at NTU to satisfy your taste buds…

Built in 2001 to encourage inter-disciplinary innovation and exchange, the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center runs programs in technology entrepreneurship.

Clubs on campus include aikido, silat, wushu, taekwondo, fencing, judo and shito-ryu karate.
